Start Oscar’s journey through Mind Energy, academy trials, hidden enemies, and the truth behind the catastrophe.

A school for heroes? Not exactly.

Mind Sense follows Oscar Kagehito as he enters a world where young Psions are trained, monitored, and shaped into living weapons.

On February 26th, 2012, a single explosion erased cities, killed millions, and left behind one terrifying rumor: a Psion caused it.

Years later, Oscar Kagehito comes home from school and learns that he is one of them. Taken from the only life he has ever known, he is thrown into Hinokai’s National Psion Academy, where students must master the Mind Energy inside them before it breaks free.

But the academy is not the heroic sanctuary Oscar imagined. It is a cage dressed as education—a place where children are trained like soldiers, watched like threats, and punished for losing control.

Then, on the very day Oscar is taken away, a member of the hidden terrorist clan Zankoku tries to abduct him. That is when Oscar realizes he may not be just another first-year. Someone has been waiting for him.

As rivalries sharpen, friendships deepen, and the truth behind the 2012 catastrophe begins to stir beneath the surface, Oscar and his closest friend Ken are pulled into something far bigger than school rankings or combat training. At the National Psion Academy, survival is only the beginning.

From an idea in my head to a world on the page.

Itsuki Kagetsu

I’m the creator of Mind Sense, a shonen story I have carried in my mind for years. I kept refining it, rebuilding it, and pushing it toward the emotional, intense story I always wanted to tell.

I cannot draw at the level this story deserves, and between life, work, and writing, I do not have the time to turn it into a manga alone. So this light novel is my first real step toward that dream.

My dream is to one day find an artist who can bring Mind Sense to life as a manga—and maybe, if fate is kind enough, even as an anime.

Every reader helps this world move a little closer to that future. Thank you for being part of it.
